An Economist or Data Scientist analyses in-game economies and player data to inform design decisions and ensure that in-game currencies, rewards, and progression systems are balanced and engaging.
As an Economist/Data Scientist, you’ll use data analytics tools to track player behaviour, balance in-game economies, and identify areas where adjustments are needed. You’ll work closely with game designers to ensure that in-game rewards and purchases are fair and motivate players to keep playing.
Many Economists/Data Scientists have degrees in economics, data science, or mathematics, with experience working with large datasets and game analytics tools.
For this role, you should enjoy working with data, analyzing player behavior, and helping design in-game systems that are fun and balanced.
Your portfolio or CV should include examples of player behaviour analyses or in-game economy balancing projects you’ve worked on, showcasing your ability to use data to inform design decisions.
