Production and Operations roles explained
Executive Games Producer
An Executive Producer oversees the entire game development process, ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the desired quality level.
As an Executive Producer, you’ll be responsible for managing the production team, setting goals and milestones, and ensuring that all departments are aligned with the project’s vision and schedule. You’ll also work closely with stakeholders, including publishers and investors, to secure funding and ensure that the game meets their expectations.
Many Executive Producers have a background in production, project management, or game design, with years of experience managing complex projects. A degree in business, game development, or project management can be helpful, but the most important factor is a strong track record of delivering successful games.
For this role, you should be someone with excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills. You’ll need to balance creative ambition with financial and logistical constraints, ensuring that the project stays on track and meets its goals.
Since competition is high for this senior role, your portfolio should showcase projects where you’ve led production teams and delivered successful games on time and within budget.
