Production and Operations roles explained
IT Engineer
An IT Engineer ensures that the technical infrastructure of a game studio runs smoothly, managing hardware, software, and networks that support the development process.
As an IT Engineer, you’ll maintain the studio’s servers, set up workstations for developers, ensure that the network is secure, and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise. You’ll need to keep the studio’s IT systems running efficiently, from file storage and security to ensuring that developers have the resources they need to work productively.
Many IT Engineers have degrees in information technology, computer science, or related fields, along with certifications like CompTIA or Cisco. Strong technical skills in network management, cybersecurity, and systems administration are essential.
For this role, you should be someone who enjoys solving technical problems, has a good understanding of networking and security, and is able to manage multiple systems and tools effectively.
Your portfolio should showcase your experience managing IT infrastructure, highlighting any improvements or solutions you’ve implemented to keep systems running smoothly.
