Production and Operations roles explained

Live Operations Manager

A Live Operations (LiveOps) Manager is responsible for managing a game after its release, ensuring that it stays engaging through regular updates, events, and community-focused initiatives.

As a LiveOps Manager, you’ll plan in-game events, manage updates, and monitor player data to ensure the game remains active and appealing. You’ll collaborate with designers, community managers, and data analysts to implement changes that keep the game fresh and engaging while also handling any live issues or server problems.

Many LiveOps Managers have backgrounds in game design, product management, or marketing, with a deep understanding of player retention and engagement strategies.

For this role, you should be someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, solving real-time problems, and keeping games fresh through regular updates.

Your portfolio should include examples of live-service games you’ve managed, highlighting the events, updates, and strategies you’ve implemented to maintain player engagement.
