Quality Assurance roles explained

Quality Assurance Tester

A Quality Assurance Tester plays through a game in its development stages to identify technical and gameplay issues, ensuring that the game works as intended.

As a QA Tester, your job is to find bugs, glitches, or design flaws by thoroughly testing every game aspect. You’ll document issues, reproduce bugs, and report them to developers for fixing. Your work ensures that the game is polished and free of critical errors when released to players.

Many QA Testers have backgrounds in game development or software testing, though a deep understanding of game mechanics and attention to detail are crucial. Being familiar with different gaming platforms and engines is a plus.

For this role, you should be methodical, patient, and detail-oriented. You’ll need to have the ability to think critically and problem-solve to identify and replicate issues within the game.

Your CV should demonstrate any experience in game testing or QA processes, showcasing your ability to spot and report bugs effectively.
