Community and Marketing roles explained
Games Publisher
A Games Publisher is responsible for funding, marketing, and distributing games. They ensure the game reaches its audience and is commercially successful.
As a Games Publisher, you’ll work with game developers from early development to post-launch, providing the resources needed to complete the game. This includes funding, marketing, and distribution channels. You’ll also manage relationships with retailers, online platforms, and media to ensure the game gets maximum exposure.
Many Games Publishers have a background in business, marketing, or sales, often with degrees in these areas. Strong negotiation, communication, and financial management skills are crucial for success.
For this role, you should be someone who understands the gaming market, enjoys managing business relationships, and has a keen sense of how to position a game for commercial success.
Your career portfolio should include examples of successful game launches and partnerships with developers, showing your ability to navigate the business side of the gaming industry.
