Audio roles explained

Voiceover Artist

A Voiceover Artist provides the voices for characters, narration, or other audio elements in a game, bringing characters and stories to life through performance.

As a Voiceover Artist, you’ll perform dialogue for characters, narration for cutscenes, or even sound effects using your voice. Your work will be recorded in a studio, where you’ll bring emotion, personality, and nuance to your performance, ensuring that it aligns with the game’s narrative and characters. You’ll work closely with directors and sound engineers to capture the right tone and delivery.

Many Voiceover Artists have backgrounds in acting, drama, or voice performance, though a strong demo reel and vocal versatility are more important than formal education.

For this role, you should be passionate about storytelling through voice, have strong acting skills, and be able to adapt your voice to different characters and situations. You’ll need excellent vocal control and the ability to take direction.

Your demo reel should showcase a variety of voice performances, including character voices, narration, and emotional ranges, demonstrating your versatility and talent as a voiceover artist.
