We're thrilled to announce our new project aiming to create new pathways into games journalism. Open to aspiring writers between 14 and 18 from underrepresented genders, Into Games Young Journalist will offer you the chance to work alongside a professional and create your own article to be published on the Into Games and Critics' Club websites!

15 successful applicants will take part in a day of workshops allowing them to explore their critical voice, before writing their own piece of games journalism with guidance from their professional mentor. Their articles will then be published on the Into Games and Critics’ Club websites to be read by thousands across the UK.

🎮 Work with guidance from a professional games journalist

🎮 Write and refine your own piece of journalistic writing

🎮 See your work published on Into Games and Critics' Club

Meet your mentors

Journalists Vikki Blake, Imogen Mellor, and Rachel Watts will be leading the workshops and offering their guidance directly to participants. Collectively they have written for outlets such as NME, Eurogamer, GamesRadar+, Kotaku, PCGamer, GamingBible AND more! They are kindly bringing their valuable experience to this project to help the next generation of creators.

Why are we doing this?

Women, trans, and non-binary creators are severely underrepresented in games media, and many budding journalists are denied the opportunity to write professionally if they don't have those key industry connections. We want to open up another avenue with a unique work experience and networking opportunity open specifically to groups underrepresented in games journalism.

What we are looking for

Applicants must be an aspiring writer aged between 14 and 18 from an underrepresented gender, based in the United Kingdom, and available for a full day of workshops on December 5. They must also be available to work on their article throughout the following week and submit a final piece by Friday, December 11. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out at hello@intogames.org
