Screen NI and Into Games launch access to free courses

Northern Ireland Screen and Into Games have launced a programme for aspiring game developers in Northern Ireland to boost their skills with some of the UK's top developers.

As part of NI Screen’s continued commitment to support the region's growing video games and immersive sector, the organisation has secured award-winning training for 35 game development students and graduates to help get them the skills they need to thrive.

The courses have been developed by Into Games, a non-profit organisation focussed on creating more equitable pathways into the UK games industry.

Participants of the programme will learn directly from people who helped create some of the world's largest games IP, including Monument Valley, Batman Arkham series, and Grand Theft Auto. The courses support a range of disciplines at the grad level, including level designers, game artists and narrative designers.

The courses are free to take part in, but participants will have to be over 18, live in Northern Ireland and have an existing portfolio of work. Preference will be made to early stage developers who have yet to secure work.

CEO of Into Games stated,

“These courses allow students to build advanced skills directly from working professionals while they build a portfolio piece. They can help raise attainment and build talent thats ready for work. We can’t wait to see what NI students produce.”

To apply participants must fill in this application form - spaces are limited.
