Schools Out - What did we achieve this academic year?

Six regions. One goal: getting young people into games careers.

Since October 2025, our schools programme has been delivered across six regions through two flagship campaigns, Creative Careers Month and National Careers Week, alongside additional regional workshops during the summer term.

Our aim is to inspire the next generation of game developers who will enrich the industry and bring fresh perspectives. By reaching students who are about to start their GCSEs, we give them the chance to discover careers they may not have heard of before and begin shaping the direction of their education.

100% teacher satisfaction and 100% would host again.

In particular, we have targeted these events at schools with higher rates of free school meal recipients, to show pupils from working-class and low-income families that they have a place in our industry and that their voices will make it stronger.

During Creative Careers Month and National Careers Week, we delivered our programme to over a thousand students. Aligning our programme with these moments helps us reach young people at a time when they are actively exploring their interests and considering what their future could hold.

All workshops took place within our six Waypoint regions. A Waypoint is a regional network of game studios, educators, and grassroots organisations committed to developing underrepresented talent from working-class and low-income backgrounds.

Feedback from schools, students, and workshop presenters has been highly encouraging, with 100% teacher satisfaction and 100% interest in hosting the sessions again!

One of our proudest moments came from a SEND-focused session in Barnsley, where a volunteer adapted the materials on the spot for students who needed extra support. A member of staff noted that some children sat and engaged with booklet work for longer than they normally would. We are now working towards creating an official adapted workshop for SEND students, to extend our support and strengthen belief that anyone can have a career in games.

So, what’s next? We’re preparing for the next academic year, using our learning to add new content, provide extra support for volunteers, and produce new print runs of our free activity booklets. Thank you to every volunteer, school, teacher, and student who has taken part - we can’t wait to reach even more students in even more schools.

If you are interested in hosting a workshop, or volunteering to run one, please contact us at hello@intogames.org!
