Trello can be used to break up big projects into lists of tasks; you can create task boards with columns (such as ‘To Do’, ‘In Progress’, or ‘Done’) and move your tasks (such as ‘art for character 1’ or ‘write dialogue for character 2’) between them to keep track of things. You can also set due dates and share tasks out between project team members if you’re not just working by yourself.

Trello has three tiers of account but most people will only need the bottom tier, which is free.
