September 12 saw the end of the very first Offical Women in Games Jam, and we couldn't be more excited about the work that was created during the week. The games made by participants were played during the 2020 Women in Games Global Conference and winners in Design, Audio, and more were chosen by a panel. The jam was also sponsored by Sledgehammer Games, who hosted three exciting panels throughout the week which featured some of the incredible women who work for them discussing their roles and the wider industry. If you missed any, you can catch them on Twitch right here.

Sledgehammer said of the experience:

“We were honoured to partner with Women in Games and Into Games to bring the 2020 Game Jam to life. Events like the Women in Games Conference give women in the games industry and those seeking a career in game development a platform to discuss important topics like culture, community, and education. These experiences are of great value to our community and we are so proud of everyone who participated.”

Game Jams are a fantastic opportunity to practice game-making with a clear objective and timeframe. Often set to a brief, they can help improve your abilities when it comes to quick-thinking and time management; plus you get to stretch your imagination a little too. The theme for the Women in Games Jam was 'Mother' – we asked participants to explore what it means to be a mother, or how they interpret the role between mother and child, mother earth and nature, the role of the creator, or something even more abstract. We were thrilled with the entries, check out the winners below.
