Pro Gamer

Pro Gamers are competitive gamers that play video games full time. Pro Gamers seek financial gain in many ways including competition prizes, donations, sponsorship and generating revenue through gaining subscribers.

To work towards being a Pro Gamer you will need to select your game and dedicate yourself to becoming the best. Take inspiration from successful gamers, build your online profile, invest in the right technology, and then hone your craft through practice and training.

By nature, it is a competitive field. Fame and success can’t be guaranteed but established pro gamers prove it is possible with hard work, self-belief, and dedication.

YOUR LEARNING JOURNEY

Pro Gaming is an extremely competitive occupation that depends on an expert level of game playing skill, devotion and tenacity. You should be someone that is ambitious, loves to practice tirelessly and enjoys being strategic.

As a professional, you’ll be playing your chosen game in a competitive setting against others players, either solo or in a team. Most Pro Gamers start their careers on their own so building a reputation of being a top player to get noticed is key. Find and compete in local matches and tournaments. Support your local community and build a network to help you source mentors, sponsors and friends.

Be prepared to have either a fall back plan or a side profession for financial stability, especially at the beginning of your career. Esports is a booming and rapidly growing industry but Pro Gaming is a tough career path that entails a life of dedication without promised success.

Whatever role you are working in, it is essential that you understand the game making process. You can head to our build a game section for first steps; join a regular game jam to build up your skills & network; or start modding others games to gain experience.
